We have an important and exciting update for you regarding the health status and potential return of Montreal Canadiens forward Patrik Laine.

This morning, as his teammates returned to the ice live from Brossard, Laine was seen without crutches.

This is obviously a significant development and a big step for him in his recovery process.

See what Sportsnet journalist Eric Engels also reported.

This confirms it.

In short, this will obviously be something to watch over the next few weeks, but Laine seems to be healing quickly from his knee injury, sustained during a preseason game against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

His addition will be huge for the Montreal Canadiens' second line, which has unfortunately had a slow start to the season.

In fact, to try to jump-start Kirby Dach, head coach Martin St. Louis made some interesting changes during this morning's on-ice session.

If it were your decision, what would your lines look like when Patrik Laine returns?

At 26 years old, Patrik Laine registered 9 points in 18 games last season with the Columbus Blue Jackets, and he has amassed 388 points (204 goals) in 480 career NHL games.

We can reasonably begin to hope to see him back in uniform in a little over a month.
