The Canadiens announce that Patrik Laine will return in 2 to 3 months
Laine will not require surgery after all, and he has only suffered a "simple" sprain to his left knee that will not need an operation.
Of course, it's still painful and it still means a long-term absence, but under the circumstances, this is incredible news.
It seems all the ligaments are intact, and even in my wildest dreams, I never could have hoped to see Patrik Laine back in two months.
We are likely to see him return in January.

«The Canadiens announce that Patrik Laine has suffered a sprain to his left knee and will be out for two to three months. This is the best possible outcome.»
- Arpon Basu, The Athletic
«The fact that Patrik Laine doesn't need surgery is certainly the best possible scenario. After the tough seasons Laine has endured, it's great news for the 26-year-old Finn, who was excited for his fresh start in Montreal.»
- Priyanta Emrith
We wish him a smooth rehabilitation, and we imagine it will be extremely motivating for him to know his season isn't over, against all expectations.
We'll be seeing him much sooner than anticipated, and that makes us extremely happy.
