In a recent edition of the Sick Podcast, Tony Marinaro welcomed Simon "Snake" Boisvert to discuss the Canadiens' selections. The controversial NHL prospect expert offered encouraging comments regarding the 21st overall pick.
Hage, 18 years old, is, according to Snake, an excellent choice by the Canadiens. He even sees him as a second-line center on a team contending for top honors, if not an excellent third-line player.
Don't think he'll be a grinder here. On the third line, he could produce at a level of 40 or 45 points per season. Boisvert even says that if the young man ends up being only a third-line player, the Canadiens will be well-equipped to win the cup.
Marinaro and Boisvert even went as far as to compare Hage to Phillip Danault. For them, there is no doubt, the Canadiens' young prospect is much better than former Canadien Phil Danault. While the Quebec native is excellent defensively, Hage is as well but is also superior offensively. He knows how to control the puck, skates very well, and has a very good shot.
We understand, therefore, that if he develops properly, the Canadiens will be in business with a center line composed of Nick Suzuki, Kirby Dach, and Michael Hage.
However, we have no doubt that Hage will do everything in his power to develop properly. As we had already told you, he has gone through many trials. He has always managed to get up and keep moving forward despite the pain. His strength, perseverance, and leadership (he is the captain of his team) will also help him in his upcoming challenges.
Not to mention that the Canadiens were his childhood team, both for him and his father. Enough to motivate him even more!
