The Montreal Canadiens make a decision regarding Florian Xhekaj
First of all, please note that Florian will be in uniform against the New Jersey Devils tonight at the Bell Centre, and especially, take note that the Canadiens' management has decided to place him on the team's fourth line, alongside Michael Pezzetta and Xavier Simoneau.
"Florian Xhekaj will be the center of the 4th line with Michael Pezzetta and Xavier Simoneau tonight."
- Priyanta Emrith
It looks like it's going to be a tough line for the Devils' players to face and quite interesting to watch for Montreal Canadiens fans.
Florian Xhekaj is currently labeled as a fourth-line player
This seems to indicate that the Canadiens currently see Florian as a fourth-line player (even for preseason games), but this isn't necessarily a negative, as it's probably his best entryway into the regular lineup in Montreal.
Here is the complete lineup:
Forwards:
Caufield-Suzuki-Slafkovsky
Gallagher-Evans-Armia
Farrell-Beck-Mesar
Pezzetta-Xhekaj-Simoneau
Defensemen:
Matheson-Reinbacher
Struble-Mailloux
Trudeau-Hayes
Goaltenders:
Montembeault
Hughes
As we reported earlier, Logan Mailloux will be the only player to participate in two consecutive games:
He will need a strong performance if he wants to force Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton to keep him in the NHL in two weeks.
Florian Xhekaj, now 20 years old and standing at 6 feet 4 inches, collected 65 points, including 34 goals, in 63 games last season in the OHL.
He also played three games with the Laval Rocket, and he too will be very interesting to watch tonight.
