Captain Roman Josi Already Losing Patience and Showing Frustration with Former Canadien Justin Barron
The trade between the Montreal Canadiens and the Predators, involving Justin Barron and Alexandre Carrier, is still a hot topic in Nashville.
It's really a strange trade for the Preds, but a big win for Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton.
Since his arrival in Nashville, Barron has been far from convincing.
He barely plays because the head coach there already has no confidence in him, and when he does play, it doesn't go well.
Roman Josi is already losing patience with Justin Barron
The captain of the Nashville team has, in fact, shown his frustration with Barron on several occasions, according to a journalist covering the Preds' activities.
Here's an excerpt from an excellent article by Nicolas Cloutier of TVA Sports.
«In the last two games, he's just lost,» observed a Nashville journalist.
«At one point, he was leading an offensive rush with two forwards behind him, and you could see Roman Josi was frustrated. That's his job, not Barron's.»
Context: Predators head coach Andrew Brunette prefers that defensemen don't push forward and instead make quick passes to the wingers.
But Josi naturally has special permission, which Barron does not have.
«He makes odd decisions, but for now, let's call it an adjustment period,» tempered Daugherty.
We highly recommend the full article:
This situation could still change, and the Predators clearly believe they can develop Barron long-term, but I'd be curious to know if Barry Trotz already regrets this trade.
Let's recall that this was a 1 for 1 trade, meaning Kent Hughes didn't have to add a draft pick to swap Barron for Carrier.
On the other hand, Alexandre Carrier is quickly becoming a reliable top-4 defenseman for Martin St-Louis' team.
Some even see him as a potential future replacement for David Savard.
He has 4 points in 8 games, with a positive +/- of +1, and the Canadiens are playing significantly better since his arrival.
