A frightening incident occurred last night as New Jersey Devils prospect Case McCarthy was rushed to the hospital.
McCarthy Taken to Hospital
Case McCarthy, an alternate captain for the Boston University Terriers and a fourth-round pick by the New Jersey Devils in 2019, was taken to the hospital following a terrifying crash into the boards.
McCarthy reportedly suffered a broken collarbone, which is likely to end his season.
Playing alongside Canadiens prospect Lane Hutson as one of the top defensive pairings in the NCAA, this loss will significantly impact BU's chances in the Hockey East playoffs.
Coach Jay Pandolfo shared his thoughts on the injury:
It's always frightening to witness one of your players and teammates suffer such a fall. The positive aspect is that he was able to get up. He has mobility in all his extremities, which is encouraging; he's doing quite well.
We hope that McCarthy makes a complete recovery in time for next season as he continues his journey towards the NHL.
