ANNOUNCEMENT: already bad news for Jake Allen in New Jersey and it's sad
When veteran goalie Jake Allen was traded to the New Jersey Devils last Friday, many journalists asked him the following question.
«Despite the fact that you are sad to leave Montreal, are you somehow happy to leave the famous trio?»
And Allen was hesitant to answer the question (for obvious reasons), but we may have just understood more about why.
In the last few hours, the Devils have announced that they intend to keep the young Nico Daws with them.
This means that Jake Allen is leaving one trio to join another.
Unfortunately for him, he will AGAIN have to deal with this very difficult reality.
Jake Allen finds himself in a new trio of goaltenders
It will be a rotation between Jake Allen, Nico Daws, and Kaapo Kahkonen in front of the net in New Jersey.
The Devils traded Vitek Vanecek seconds after acquiring Allen, but they added Kahkonen (another goalie) in this rather unexpected transaction.
In any case, even in front of the New Jersey press, Allen had very good words for his former organization.
«Having been able to play with Carey Price and having almost won a Stanley Cup is something I'm really proud of. [...] Just having had the chance to play 1 game with this organization is special to me!»
- Jake Allen We wish him to be the «Samuel Montembeault» of the trio in New Jersey.
