We witnessed a special scene during the match between Patrick Roy's Islanders and Martin St-Louis's Canadiens.

In fact, it was before the start of tonight's game.

Even the CH organization acknowledged it via an official statement, but the local team performed the Canadian national anthem, in French!

There is clearly a bit of Patrick Roy in this, and we love it! What a nice touch!

"The anthem in French, a very nice touch!" - Montreal Canadiens

It's worth noting that there are indeed many French speakers and Quebecers in New York tonight, cheering on Patrick Roy and the Islanders.

"200 fans, 4 buses left early this morning at 5 AM to go to the game of the New York Islanders who are hosting the Canadiens tonight at the UBS Arena. It's the Islanders coach Patrick Roy who is the center of this interest." - Stéphane Turcot, TVA

The Islanders are currently in a very intense race for the NHL playoffs, so they are playing extremely important games right now.
