See the official confirmation from the Islanders, which just came through.

«News: The New York Islanders have signed defenseman Tony DeAngelo to a one-year contract for the remainder of the 2024-25 season.»
- New York Islanders

Let's remind everyone that DeAngelo had most recently been playing with Ivan Demidov and SKA St. Petersburg, before suddenly announcing his departure.

In his most recent seasons in the NHL, Tony DeAngelo produced at rates of 30 points per 82 games, 50 points per 82 games, 65 points per 82 games, and 64 points per 82 games.

This year in the KHL, DeAngelo scored 32 points in 32 games.

It will be interesting to see if it can work with Patrick Roy as head coach, especially knowing that DeAngelo comes with a certain reputation. (although talent is definitely not an issue for him)

This is a $775,000 contract (NHL minimum salary) for DeAngelo with the Islanders.

Please also note that the defenseman will be placed on waivers by the Islanders today, as required by the rules, since he played in the KHL this season.

Details will follow.
