REPORT: Vladimir Tarasenko Has Signed With a Canadiens Rival
Vladimir Tarasenko has inked a new contract with an Atlantic division rival of the Canadiens.
Tarasenko Reportedly Signs In Ottawa
It was recently reported by Gotham Sports Network that the Ottawa Senators will be signing Vladimir Tarasenko to a new contract.
SOURCE: I'm hearing the Ottawa Senators and Vladimir Tarasenko have come to terms on an agreement.
GSN primarily covers New York sports teams so it is fairly reliable that there is an inside source telling them this information.
How This Affects Ottawa
One season after Senators GM Pierre Dorion hilariously said "The rebuild is over" the Senators will look to make the playoffs once again.
If Tarasenko manages to gel with the Senators' top players better than Alex DeBrincat did, he could bounce back to his 2021-22 form where he scored 34 goals and 82 points in 75 games with the Blues.
While he has scored 40+ goals in only one season, he has 5 others where he scored 30+ which shows how consistent he is as a goal scorer.
This could be the piece that finally sees the Senators become more competitive
UPDATE, It is now confirmed:
