On January 15th, Juraj Slafkovsky played his 39th and final match of the last campaign. A left knee injury sustained during a game will force him to miss the rest of the season.
In an interview given to local media in Slovakia, Slafkovsky mentioned that his knee is doing very well. He's been skating for a while and believes his lengthy eight-month absence won't be too noticeable.
Slafkovsky Makes an Exciting Announcement
According to him, he will already be heading to Montreal in a week and will continue preparing for the upcoming campaign.
Slafkovsky announces he will be arriving in town next Tuesday! Wow, we love it!
It's very early, but it says a lot. He really wants to be ready for training camp.
Interestingly, the 2022 draft's first overall pick mentioned that he will be moving on to another phase next season, but off the ice. Indeed, he's going to leave his host family in Montreal to move out on his own. Better yet, he wants to take care of Filip Mesar while the latter is in town. The two good friends can thus support and encourage each other in this new stage of their progression.
As for the expectations of the fans, the young man is well aware that they will be high. However, he is very confident in his abilities and knows that he will bounce back next season.
«I'm sure they will expect more, I'm counting on it. I believe I am well prepared and will be better than in my first year. I lost weight, but we'll see if I'll be faster on the ice. I think so." - Juraj Slafkovsky
