Mike Hoffman just revealed the sole and true reason why he signed with Montreal, and it's unprecedented
Wow.
In an interview given to St. Louis journalist Jeremy Rutherford, former Canadiens forward Mike Hoffman straightforwardly revealed the sole and unique reason he signed with Montreal in July 2021.

Me: Were the Blues interested?
Hoffman: Yes
Me: Why did you sign with Montreal?
Hoffman: More money
Rutherford had never seen anything like it in his entire long career, a message like that, imagine.
Clearly, Hoffman is at a stage in his career where he can afford to say what he thinks, regardless of the consequences.
It's not the answer we like to hear, and he clearly didn't choose Montreal for the right reasons, according to many, but we must still salute his honesty.
Hoffman could have gone back to play with the St. Louis Blues, but Marc Bergevin simply made him a better offer, an offer superior to what all the other general managers were offering. (a three-year contract, worth $4.5 million per year)
