Erik Karlsson's trade will be one of monstrous proportions. His $11.5-million cap hit will be hard to move, but for a future hall-of-fame blueliner, teams will be willing to get creative.
Karlsson's eight-year, $92-million contract carries a full NMC, which gives him full choice on where he wants to go. New reports indicate he would be willing to waive it for only one team.
Karlsson Willing to Waive NMC For One Team
It appears that Erik Karlsson has chosen his future destination to be the Edmonton Oilers. This makes a lot of sense, as there would be true magic between himself and Connor McDavid.
Two of the best offensive producers of a generation on the same power play unit? It could become one of the most effective duos in the league.
It wouldn't be easy for the Oilers to pull this off, but if Karlsson only wants to go to this one team, it will change the odds into Edmonton's favour.
We could be looking at one of the most impactful trades in over a decade, which is very exciting.
We will just have to wait and see what happens.
