As we mentioned, we were very pleasantly surprised by the great respect shown by the fans at the Bell Centre towards the Gaudreau family.
During the moment of silence at the Bell Centre, not a single sound was heard. It was a true moment of total and complete silence.
While the tribute in Montreal was successful and exemplary:
We just got hold of the video of what happened in Toronto.
Unfortunately, it wasn't just a single 'idiot' who ruined the tribute to brothers Matthew and Johnny Gaudreau there.
Sadly, several Maple Leafs fans yelled during what was supposed to be an important moment of silence.
See the footage.
I'm sorry, but this is completely unacceptable.
And I'll say it again, this was more than just an isolated case.
Johnny Gaudreau was 31 years old at the time of his tragic death.
The 5-foot-9, 163-pound forward collected 60 points in 81 games last season with the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Over his career in the NHL, we're talking about 743 points in 763 games. What a career and what an exceptional player! He earned the respect of the entire hockey world, not only for his on-ice talent but especially for the extraordinary person he was.
