The generational talent Matvei Michkov and the Montreal Canadiens: Last-minute turnaround
This morning, we talked to you about the following video in which the excellent Tony Marinaro talks about the Montreal Canadiens and the young Matvei Michkov.
It notably mentions that Nick Bobrov loves Michkov so much that he would call him (behind the scenes) the European Connor Bedard.
It spoke volumes about the possibility of seeing the Habs draft him.
In fact, we would love for this phenomenon Matvei Michkov to become a Montreal Canadiens player, but we must ultimately revise our expectations.
Tony had to turn around and retract what he said in the above video. Hats off to him for doing so, it's very honorable of him.
Aaron Portzline breaks his silence
But I never said or wrote anything about Nick Bobrov, Matvei Michkov, etc.»
What Portzline actually said and is true is this:
He suggested that everything points to the Columbus Blue Jackets drafting Will Smith BEFORE Matvei Michkov if they draft at the fourth overall pick or later.
In essence, we understand that the Jackets' list would look like this (for now):
1- Connor Bedard
2 and 3- Adam Fantilli - Leo Carlsson
4- Will Smith.
It's still interesting for the Canadiens, considering that the Blue Jackets have a very high chance of drafting before Montreal. (So it increases the chances of seeing Michkov available when the Habs draft)
If Matvei Michkov is available for Kent Hughes and Connor Bedard is not, would you like to see Michkov as the chosen one?
Regarding Marinaro, he simply fell victim to an intellectual shortcut reported by another media. It's a good reminder to be very vigilant about the reliability of our sources.
