Trade market: A major rumor involving Kent Hughes and the Canadiens has just been confirmed
The rumor has been circulating for several hours now and is causing a huge stir across the province. Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens are seriously and aggressively attempting to make a trade to acquire a top-4 overall pick in the 2023 draft.
As reported by Jonathan Bernier, from the Journal de Montréal:
"This rumor is confirmed by a an important source of an NHL team. The Canadiens are very aggressive in trying to climb into the top four. They're ready to pay a high price, this source affirmed. Let's not kid ourselves. The player the Canadiens want is Will Smith. - Jonathan Bernier
This is really interesting. We can imagine that the goal of Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton is to avoid the huge decision to be made at the 5th overall pick, with the generational talent that young Matvei Michkov represents. (but also comes with its share of risk)
Consider now that this is solid, 100% reliable information, verified and confirmed.
