The chances of being in the lottery mix are far greater than those of making the playoff mix.
That said, the good news in all of this is that, for the fourth year in a row, Kent Hughes will have the opportunity to select a high-quality prospect in the upcoming draft. According to the site HABSolumentFan, three prospects would be ideal for the Canadiens' general manager.
These three forwards are James Hagens, Porter Martone, and Michael Misa.
In the case of Hagens, most experts rank him as the top prospect of the 2025 class, and comparisons to Jack Hughes of the New Jersey Devils are becoming increasingly common.
A few weeks ago, Hagens spoke on the possibility of landing in Montreal and had great things to say about the city.
As for Martone, Craig Button has ranked him as the top prospect for the 2025 draft, describing him as a true power forward.
At 6-foot-3 and 208 pounds, the right winger from the Brampton Steelheads of the Ontario Junior Hockey League currently ranks second in points in the league and is expected to showcase his talent at the upcoming World Junior Championship during the holiday season.
Finally, Michael Misa is a center with exceptional offensive skills and is currently dominating the Ontario Junior Hockey League scoring charts with 46 points in 23 games, an impressive two points per game average.
Notably, his team, the Saginaw Spirit, is the reigning Memorial Cup champion.
While some Canadiens fans might be disappointed by yet another dismal season, they can find some solace in knowing that one of these three players could soon be arriving in Montreal.
