McCabe crosschecks Marchand in the face after the whistle
These original six games never disappoint right? Things got feisty between the Boston Bruins and Toronto Maple Leafs, just ahead of the trade deadline.
Chaos erupted early in the first period when Maple Leafs defenseman Jake McCabe delivered a massive cross-check to Brad Marchand. It was a real jaw-dropper, catching everyone off guard.
Chaos In Maple Leafs vs. Bruins Rivalry Game
As you can imagine, the play was blown dead, and a scrum ensued. When the dust settled, the Maple Leafs found themselves with two penalties � one for McCabe for interference and another for Matthew Knies for roughing. And wouldn't you know it, shortly after, the Bruins capitalized on the powerplay with a goal from David Pastrnak.
Now, here we are, mid-way through the first period, and the Maple Leafs are still trailing. It's got us all wondering if McCabe's mental lapse is going to end up costing the Maple Leafs the game. Stay tuned, because this one's far from over!
