Yesterday, two good goalies were placed on NHL waivers, Eric Comrie and Ilya Samsonov.
And in the last few minutes, we've learned that both were passed over. Wow.
We can rely on what insiders say, as they are well-connected, but we can also rely on what actually happens.
Today, we received irrefutable proof that Samsonov and Comrie are worth nothing at all.
If Ilya Samsonov and Eric Comrie are absolutely worthless, what does that say about Jake Allen and Cayden Primeau?
Be careful. We're not saying here that they're necessarily worthless too, we're not saying that Samsonov and Comrie are necessarily better than the two goalies of the Canadiens, but it raises the question.
I guarantee you that Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens were watching very closely what would happen today in the NHL waivers with the other two goalies. It was going to be very telling.
In your opinion, are Allen and Primeau better than Samsonov?
Samsonov, 26 years old, is a 1st round pick in 2015. He has a career NHL record of 84-34-19, with a 2.77 GAA and a .903 save percentage.
He was splendid last season (0.920 efficiency), but much less so this season.
Allen, 33 years old, is a 2nd round pick in 2008. He has a career NHL record of 187-157-40, with a 2.72 GAA and a .909 save percentage.
He maintained a .891 efficiency last season.
A fascinating file, in any case!
