BREAKING: major announcement for the 5 players charged criminally, and we have an official verdict regarding the trial format
In the last few seconds, the verdict has come down regarding the trial format for the 5 players accused in relation to the 2018 Junior Team Canada scandal.
The fate of Carter Hart, Dillon Dube, Michael McLeod, Cal Foote, and Alex Formenton will be in the hands of a jury!
Indeed, it will be a jury trial! Therefore, they will be judged by their fellow citizens.
"Five former members of the 2018 Canadian junior hockey team, who have been criminally charged, will have a jury trial, reports the Globe and Mail.
The players, whose request for a jury trial was granted on Tuesday, will be tried together as a group.
It will take at least several months before a trial date is set.
"Earlier this week, the five players chose a jury trial and they are confident that jurors from the community will fairly and impartially decide this case after hearing all the evidence and testimony," wrote the lawyers representing the accused players, Globe journalist Robyn Doolittle in a joint statement."
