Team Canada captain for the 4 Nations Showdown, Sidney Crosby, has finally broken his silence on the boos during the national anthems.

At a press conference after last night's game against the United States, the question was asked over and over again, and he finally let slip a response that speaks volumes.

See the clip in question:

Once again, Crosby demonstrates great leadership.

He obviously doesn't want to get too involved, but the simple phrase "we respect the national anthems" says a lot.

Sidney Crosby says national anthems should be respected

It was an extremely emotional evening, to say the least, and this Saturday night at the Bell Centre is one we won't soon forget.

Sidney Crosby on the boos: "I'm not going to get into that.

We respect the anthems, and I'll leave it at that."

It was difficult for him to give a different answer under the circumstances, but it's understandable that he would make a "leader's" call to respect the anthems.

As for Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand, he went a bit further:

Brad Marchand, on fans booing the U.S. anthem at Bell Centre last night:

"They should not be booing the Americans during that anthem.

They have nothing to do with the things that are going on.

I do feel bad for those guys in that moment. I don't think it's right."

This is undoubtedly a debate that continues to spark strong reactions.

And you, what is your opinion on all this?

Personally, it seems like I understand the arguments on both sides, I get the message being sent, but I also understand those who remind us that not all Americans approve of what's happening right now.
