A massive forward has just been linked as an acquisition for the Montreal Canadiens organization, and it is Zach Aston-Reese
With the recent moves made by Kent Hughes, one can presume that the Canadiens' general manager has finished his shopping for the upcoming season.
However, as reported by Cédrick Gervais of Marqueur.com, another forward might join the Canadiens in the coming weeks.
According to some information from the HockeyBuzz website, Kent Hughes seems to be interested in free agent Zach Aston-Reese.
The 29-year-old forward is still without a contract, and other NHL teams are also interested in the player who spent the last season with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
"Aston-Reese is garnering interest from the Montreal Canadiens, New York Islanders, and Florida Panthers... Could a return to the Pittsburgh Penguins also be considered?"
While it wouldn't be a major signing on Hughes' part, the forward could still bring some depth to the offense.
However, one has to wonder if the Canadiens have room for another forward as they seem to be overcrowded, especially in the third and fourth lines.
But if Kent Hughes were to find a spot for him on the team, Zach Aston-Reese would be competing with players like Joel Armia, Michael Pezzeta, and Jesse Ylonen for the 12th or 13th forward position to start the next season.
Aston-Reese, 29, is a big guy at 6 feet 2 inches and 215 pounds.
