Many believe that Jeff Petry will simply be passing through Montreal. The silences from Kent Hughes, the Canadiens' organization, and Petry himself are quite revealing.
However, the defenseman might not be the only one just passing through the city. According to several sources, Casey DeSmith also reportedly has not yet spoken with Kent Hughes.
Wow. A development that speaks volumes.
It's very rare to see this.
In his press conference, Penguins GM Kyle Dubas mentioned that the trade allowed his counterpart, Canadiens' Kent Hughes, to "acquire assets that he can keep or exchange." In other words, he indirectly indicated that the Canadiens might be looking to move some of their new acquisitions.
On the other hand, another newcomer in this trade, Nathan Légaré, stated on BPM Sport's airwaves Tuesday morning that he had been contacted by the Canadiens' Assistant GM. Knowing that he's the only one who has been contacted is quite unusual.
A case to follow!
Could Casey DeSmith and Jeff Petry potentially leave the Canadiens before the start of the season?
