Are the Montreal Canadiens about to announce the acquisition of a promising big winger in a few minutes?
As we reported to you yesterday, the Ottawa Senators once again caused a surprise by placing defenseman Jacob Bernard-Docker and the large winger Egor Sokolov on the NHL waivers.
Bernard-Docker is a 1st round pick, but let's focus here on Sokolov.
A former employee of the Montreal Canadiens notably mentioned this:
«The Montreal Canadiens might have the opportunity to acquire a talented winger for free.
The Senators have placed Egor Sokolov on waivers, as well as the 2018 first-round pick, Jacob Bernard-Docker.
The Habs are 5th on the NHL waiver claim priority list.»
Montreal Hockey Now
Sokolov is really the name that grabs attention.
Almost everyone absolutely expects him to be claimed.
He's only 23 years old, he's a 6-foot-3 power forward, and he torched the AHL. (60 points in 70 games and 50 points in 64 games, including 40 goals)
Marc Dumont, from Montreal Hockey Now, suggested that the Canadiens should claim Sokolov off waivers, given his huge potential.
We'll have the answer in a few minutes, but he's a player who could really become a dominant player in the NHL.
The Sens might bitterly regret this decision.
