Good news for Hughes and the Canadiens in the trade market: three players involved, including a very pleasant surprise
There were several very positive takeaways from the Montreal Canadiens' impressive win last night in Buffalo, especially the outstanding performance of some veterans.
Even if the Habs are off to a good start this season, one should still expect the GM to continue to bet on youth and try to trade some veterans. (according to several experts, at least)
It would make sense to trade some veterans at the trade deadline to avoid potentially losing them for nothing. (it would be good to get young players or picks in return)
Two players more specifically targeted
Among those who could be traded to the highest bidder by March are forwards Sean Monahan and Tanner Pearson.
Personally, we believe that Monahan could be a long-term solution in Montreal, but the general consensus seems to lean towards a trade in his case.
It's worth noting that both Pearson and Monahan are currently in their final contract year before becoming unrestricted free agents next June. This explains that.
Acquired for next to nothing, these two players are on track to make Kent Hughes look like a genius by fetching a significant return.
«Sean Monahan has 5 points in 5 games.
Tanner Pearson has 4 points in 5 games.
If both can stay healthy until the trade deadline (I know, slim chances!), KH will once again look like a genius!»

One could also think of the goalie Jake Allen, who might be on the trade block and is significantly increasing his value right now!
Three files to keep an eye on, but it's great news to see them performing so well.
