Here is finally what the Canadiens could receive in exchange for Jeff Petry and it's huge
Since his acquisition by the Montreal Canadiens exactly one week ago, Jeff Petry has been constantly coming up in trade rumors.
It obviously seems that Kent Hughes is trying to trade him at a reduced salary, and the chances of seeing Petry don the Canadiens' uniform this season are slim.
The question we receive the most in this matter is the following: what can we hope to receive in exchange for Petry?
Few reliable sources had ventured to answer this question in recent days, until today.
Finally an idea of Petry's value at a reduced salary
We're talking about a defenseman who amassed 31 points in 61 games last season, and 42 points in 55 games two years ago. He who could cost only 2.34 million dollars.
For these reasons, see what Charles-Alexis Brisebois said on Tony Marinaro's podcast:
"Montreal can still retain 50% of his salary, which, in my opinion, could allow them to get a first-round pick. He's a defenseman with a lot of experience, so I expect a team to pay a high price for Jeff Petry, and I'm convinced there will be a lot of interest in a player like him." - Charles-Alexis Brisebois
Wow! Could Kent Hughes possibly get a first-round pick in return for Jeff Petry?
That would be huge.
Personally, we would be surprised if the Canadiens received a first-round pick before the start of the season, but listening to this, we hope that Hughes pulls off this big move.
He is certainly capable of it in any case!
