In the last few seconds, the renowned Pierre LeBrun made a massive statement about a trade involving the Montreal Canadiens and the Nashville Predators.

The rumor has been circulating since last night, but it's now confirmed!

Young goaltender Yaroslav Askarov, probably the best goalie in the world who is not yet in the NHL, has officially been proposed to Kent Hughes.

Wow.

"LeBrun confirms that the Predators have offered the Habs their top goalie prospect, Yaroslav Askarov, as part of a trade offer to move up to the fifth overall pick."

Imagine the scenario if Hughes had accepted!

We guess that today, the opportunity to acquire Askarov has flown away.

Askarov, a 6 foot 4 inches goalie drafted 11th overall in 2020, had a solid first season in North America, after dominating in the KHL.

AHL stats: 26 wins, 16 losses, an average of 2.69, and an effectiveness rate of 0.911.

Would you have liked Kent Hughes to make his acquisition, in addition to another first-round pick in last night's draft?
