Kent Hughes and the Canadiens to acquire a 25 goal scorer for free? That's what has just been proposed
Jakub Vrana's name has been circulating a lot in the last few hours in the NHL.
Firstly, because it was announced yesterday morning that he was going to be placed on waivers yesterday afternoon, but that ultimately did not happen.
For an unknown reason, probably related to trade negotiations, the St. Louis Blues finally decided at the last second not to place him on waivers yesterday.
However, they made up for it today, in the end.
So, it is expected that the talented Vrana will be claimed.
But by whom? That is the question.
On this topic, see what HabsLinks page just published.
"Vrana is a UFA after this year; only +/- $2.5 million against the cap. With Dach, Newhook and Pearson all out long term you wonder if Montreal might be interested to plug a few holes. No risk and if he works out maybe you can flip him at the deadline."
Interesting! So it will be something to watch tomorrow, but it could indeed explain why the CH has made no call-ups from Laval.
Is Vrana the solution?
Vrana, 27 years old, is a 13th overall pick in 2014 (1st round).
He recently had seasons of 62 points, 59 points, 60 points, and 52 points per 82 games.
He accumulated 16 points in 25 games last season and 6 points in 19 games this season.
