Over a month ago, Patrick Kane posted a video on social media of his training. The aim was to prove to the various league GMs that his rehabilitation after hip surgery was going well.

In a recent edition of the podcast "32 Thoughts," Elliotte Friedman revisited the case of the 16-season NHL veteran. According to the insider, we are close to a decision regarding the forward, and he has even started meeting with teams. One of the most aggressive teams in this matter is reportedly the Florida Panthers.

Although the chances of seeing number 88 land in Montreal are slim, it would not be surprising to see the Canadiens involved in the situation.

Could the Canadiens Be Involved in Acquiring Patrick Kane for Another Team?

As Marc-Olivier Beaudoin reminds us, Kent Hughes could once again assist league teams in making room to acquire Kane. With over $5 million in cap space, the GM could again gain a little extra by helping out a team.

It seems that Patrick Kane is about to make a decision regarding his next team.

Many clubs are tight on the salary cap, but the Canadiens could clearly help here since they have over $5,000,000 in cap space.

A situation to follow.-Marc-Olivier Beaudouin

The Panthers, even with over $7.6 million currently available due to LTIR, are tighter than we might think. Aaron Ekblad, with his $7.5 million salary, could return to play as early as Thanksgiving week, according to some. Bill Zito would therefore need to find a taker for salary if he intends to sign Kane.

It will also depend on the salary demanded by the former Blackhawks and Rangers player. If it's too high, it will greatly complicate the task for Zito or other GMs who want to sign him. This is definitely where Kent Hughes could come into play!

Kane, 34, scored 21 goals and 36 assists for a total of 57 points in 73 games last season. He added 6 points in 7 playoff games with the Rangers.

This will be a case to follow closely over the next few days!

Yes, this does indeed remind us of the Sean Monahan case, whom the Canadiens acquired via trade to enable the Flames to sign Nazem Kadri.
