These comments have sparked some controversy, as Hutson is likely the Canadiens' top prospect at the moment.
According to Marc-André Perreault from TVA Sports, it is highly unlikely that a prospect of Lane Hutson's caliber would be part of such a trade.
In fact, it would make no sense to sacrifice such a valuable asset to acquire a player who seems determined to play in Montreal by the summer of 2024, when he will become an unrestricted free agent.
If Kent Hughes truly wants to acquire Dubois this summer, it would likely involve draft picks or lower-tier prospects going the other way to Winnipeg.
Reading between the lines, Hutson seems close to being untouchable right now in the eyes of the Canadiens' management.
This is hardly surprising, considering his performance. As a reminder, Hutson racked up an impressive 48 points, including 15 goals, in 39 games this season with Boston University.
All this at just 18 years old. For a defenseman, that's quite impressive!
