As the 2023 NHL Draft approaches, it's always interesting and entertaining to put oneself in the shoes of General Manager Kent Hughes.

Using information that has been revealed in the last few hours, a trade proposal with the Pittsburgh Penguins has surfaced, and it would be live, on the floor of the 2023 Draft.

Knowing that Joel Edmundson is still officially available on the trade market, knowing it would be much easier to trade him in the off-season rather than mid-season, and knowing the Pittsburgh Penguins are very interested in Edmundson, here is the proposal.

To Montreal
- 14th overall pick from the Penguins

To Pittsburgh
- Pick from the Panthers, which will probably be between #30 and #32
- Joel Edmundson

** Caution, we would make this trade if one of the following players is available and has slightly slipped:

Zach Benson
David Reinbacher
Gabe Perreault

Perreault has already clearly stated that he would love to be drafted by the Canadiens, and he has an extremely impressive profile:

Would you make this trade on the draft floor?

The Penguins are accustomed to trading their first round pick in addition, and they absolutely want components that can help them win in the short term.
