The plans of Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton for the first round are still unknown, but many internet users are having fun proposing certain trades, and as reported by Nicolas Desrosiers, from the site Marqueur.com, one has caught our attention.
On the Twitter account of Hockey Night in Montreal, a trade involving the CH and the Washington Capitals is proposed, and let's just say it involves names that have been circulating for several months.
Here is the proposal:
Even though this is a suggestion and not a substantiated rumor, it remains that Kent Hughes tried everything to trade his veteran defenseman at the trade deadline, but due to his injuries, the GM was unable to get good trade value in return.
As for Anderson, his name has also been circulating quite a bit over the past year, and when a team wants to make a significant acquisition, they must give something good in return. This is exactly the case for the Canadiens' power forward, and he could become an important asset for the Capitals, just like Edmundson.
In the case of Anthony Mantha, he will be playing the last year of his contract, and it is becoming increasingly clear that the Capitals want to free up his $5.7 million salary for the upcoming season.
But the key element of the trade here would not be Mantha, but rather the eighth overall pick, and Kent Hughes could thus get his hands on a second choice among the top ten.
All of this is all well and good, but it would still be quite surprising if this trade were to take place. The goal here is simply to speculate and also to have fun, a few weeks before the next draft.
