It was recently reported that the Tampa Bay Lightning had shown interest in defenseman Joel Edmundson, who will make his return to action tonight against the Los Angeles Kings.
But now, with less than 24 hours to go before the trade deadline, a new team would be in the picture to acquire the veteran Habs defenseman.
According to the informer Pierre LeBrun, the Calgary Flames executives will attend tonight's game between the Canadiens and the Kings to monitor Edmundson's work, who will play his first game since January 26.
Could we see another trade between Kent Hughes and his Flames counterpart Brad Treliving?
Let's just say that anything is possible right now, as the defenseman market is currently limited with all the big names that have changed addresses in the last few days and the Flames are looking for veterans on the blue line.
This is great news for Habs fans as Edmundson's file was not evolving fast enough for the fans and now it could very well be that Kent Hughes has found a partner to complete a transaction.
To be continued.
