In the coming days, NHL teams, including the Montreal Canadiens, are expected to announce the signing of professional tryout contracts.

Regarding the "PTOs" potentially signed by Kent Hughes and the Habs, journalist Ken MacMillan has just targeted three names.

Among these names, there are two you are very familiar with.

1- Tomas Tatar

The first name mentioned by MacMillan is Tatar. The former Montreal Canadiens player, now 32 years old, is still a free agent.

He racked up nearly 50 points last season with the New Jersey Devils and was also very solid defensively. He also had a 61-point season in 68 games with the Habs (in 2020).

2- Jesse Puljujarvi

The second name put forth by MacMillan is one that has often been linked to the Montreal Canadiens in the past. Puljujarvi, 25 years old, is a 6-foot-4, 205-pound forward. He accumulated 16 points last season and 36 points in 65 games the previous year.

He was the 4th overall pick in 2016, chosen ahead of players like Matthew Tkachuk and Clayton Keller.

3- Max Comtois

Comtois, 24 years old, is a 6-foot-2, 215-pound winger drafted in the second round by the Anaheim Ducks in 2017.

He collected 19 points in 64 games last season and 33 points in 55 games in 2021 (leading scorer and top goal-scorer for the Ducks).

These last two names are young players with good breakout potentials who could certainly benefit from a fresh opportunity under the guidance of a head coach like Martin St-Louis.

In Tatar's case, we know his capability, and he can undoubtedly be very effective on a second or third line of a young team seeking experience.
