With the Sean Monahan trade, many Canadiens fans are turning their attention more towards the lottery rather than the NHL playoffs, once again.

The Monahan trade to WPG: it could increase the CH's chances of landing a future star player!

Indeed, with now the 26th position in the overall league standings, Kent Hughes sees his chances of drafting a good player in the next draft grow.

If nothing changes, and if he does not win the lottery, the GM could select at the 7th rank. According to the mock draft from the site Tankathon, the player available at this level would be forward Cayden Lindstrom.

This player, who is in his second full season with the Medicine Hat Tigers in the WHL, could very well be the power forward the Canadiens are looking for. Even though he stands 6 feet and 4 inches tall and weighs 216 pounds, the British Columbia native does not lack speed. His play along the boards combined with his puck-handling skills make him an exceptional forward. He might even take Josh Anderson's place in the team in a few years...

In 32 games this season with Medicine Hat, Lindstrom has accumulated 27 goals and 19 assists for a total of 46 points. He had amassed 42 points in 61 games last season with the same team.

"I compare him to Eric Lindros."

He probably has the highest potential in the draft.

And he will become a serious candidate for the Canadiens, if they keep losing.» -Nicolas Cloutier
