A very interesting development in the case of a possible trade involving Montreal Canadiens' goaltender Jake Allen.

Renaud Lavoie tipped us off earlier this week.

And now it has been confirmed by the renowned Pierre LeBrun. On TSN last night, the insider went further.

He mentioned that the Devils are indeed discussing internally the possibility of acquiring Jake Allen.

However, for the Hurricanes, it's much more advanced! They have actually spoken to Kent Hughes about a transaction.

«LeBrun on Insider Trading says the Carolina Hurricanes recently talked to Montreal about Jake Allen and that the Devils have discussed Jake Allen internally. Martin Brodeur was in St-Louis with Jake Allen, so he knows him well.» - Via NHL Watcher

So, there have been discussions between Montreal and Carolina for a trade.

It will be really interesting to see what happens next, but don't be surprised if Allen ends up in Carolina by the end of January. (they have just placed Antti Raanta on NHL waivers)
