In the transaction with Pittsburgh, the Canadiens acquired Jeff Petry, Nathan Légaré, and goalkeeper Casey DeSmith.
Well, out of these three players, there is a high chance that only one of them will start the season within the Canadiens' organizational chart.
As you know, Petry was traded to the Detroit Red Wings, and now everything indicates that Casey DeSmith (him too) will be traded again.
At least, that's what reputed journalist Eric Engels, from Sportsnet, believes.
Let's remember that Kent Hughes clearly mentioned that the Laval Rocket is not an option for DeSmith.
As for the trade of DeSmith, we have reasons to believe that Friday possibly helped to speed things up.
The GMs and coaches of the NHL were all gathered in Chicago, and as Renaud Lavoie points out, it always stimulates trade discussions when these events occur.
A file to follow, but don't be surprised if another player acquired in this transaction with the Penguins is traded again. The clues are really accumulating.
