Trade involving Alexis Lafrenière and the Montreal Canadiens: a former CH employee would reportedly refuse to offer a 1st round pick
In his latest article, former Montreal Canadiens employee and now a respected columnist, Marc Dumont, answered fans' questions.
He particularly responded to the following question:
"Would you trade the Montreal Canadiens' 2024 1st-round pick (top 5 protected) for Alexis Lafrenière?"
And here is his response:
"Absolutely not. There are already too many reclamation projects currently with the Montreal Canadiens, and I'm not sure if Lafrenière still has elite potential at this stage.
I would keep the pick and use it to acquire younger players with higher potential." - Marc Dumont, Montreal Hockey Now
Interesting! And we tend to agree with him.
Lafrenière, 21 years old, was the first overall pick in 2020. He recorded 39 points, including 16 goals, in 81 games last season, but no points in 7 playoff games.
Now it's our turn to ask you the question, would you make this trade?
"In Montreal:
Alexis Lafrenière
TO THE RANGERS:
Montreal's 2024 1st-round pick (top 5 protected)"
Let's also remember that the Rangers are seriously struggling with their high salary cap situation. We believe they would accept this trade.
If it were your decision, would you do it?
