WAIVERS: Last-minute announcement in goal, and the Montreal Canadiens just got a solid clue on Cayden Primeau
Many experts closely following the activities of the Montreal Canadiens were saying to closely watch what would happen with goalie Ivan Prosvetov (from the Colorado Avalanche) on the NHL waivers.
Yesterday, the Colorado Avalanche indeed caused a surprise by sending the young Prosvetov to NHL waivers.
He was their number two and was having a good season, but clearly their GM had other plans.
Prosvetov, 24 years old, is a big goalie at 6 feet 5 inches and 200 pounds. He has a goals-against average of 3.16 this season with the Avalanche and a save percentage just under 0.900. (in 11 games)
Where it gets interesting is that he is a goalie very similar to a certain Cayden Primeau, from the Montreal Canadiens.
They are the same age and have very similar statistics. (both in the NHL and in the AHL)
The verdict is in: Prosvetov was not claimed on waivers
See the confirmation from Chris Johnston:
This gives us big clues about the current state of the goalie market in the NHL.
Does this mean that Cayden Primeau would not be claimed either? Some believe so, but it obviously remains a risk.
Details to follow.
