We might have a major trade to announce before the Christmas trade freeze, and it would involve the young forward, Dylan Cozens. As we reported over the past few days, he is available on the trade market.

The Buffalo Sabres are clearly trying to change their approach and shake things up, just like the Nashville Predators, by the way.

And on that note, the reputable site RG has just reported that a trade seems to be taking shape between these two teams.

«A source close to Nashville reveals that they are exploring trade possibilities before the NHL holiday freeze, with Dylan Cozens on their radar.»

- RG

«According to a reliable source, Steven Stamkos is not on the trade market, and it seems Nashville is looking to add depth at center by targeting forward Dylan Cozens.»

- Marco D'Amico

There is certainly a lot of smoke around this issue.

A trade between the Buffalo Sabres and the Nashville Predators involving Dylan Cozens?

It is certainly a possibility to watch, and everything indicates that negotiations are ongoing.

Insider Friedman also shared his opinion on this matter, stating that Cozens' market value is very high and that several teams might make offers to acquire his services:

«Buffalo is receiving calls about Dylan Cozens. If I were the Sabres, I'd be terrified, with vultures circling as the player and team go through struggles.

A 23-year-old right-handed center, just two years removed from a 30-goal season. He's also under contract for another five seasons with a $7.1M AAV, which increases his value. I'd be very, very cautious with this, because he is highly sought after.»

If I were Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens, I would definitely want to get involved in this situation.

Cozens, only 23 years old, is a 6-foot-3, 207-pound center.

He was drafted 7th overall in 2019 by the Buffalo Sabres (1st round), and has accumulated 13 points in 31 games this season after recording 47 and 68 points in the last two seasons.

In total, we're talking about 179 points in 311 career games in the NHL.

He earns 7.1 million per year until 2030, so he would fit well within the Montreal Canadiens' salary scale.

This is definitely a situation to watch closely.
