Clearly, the NHL trade market heated up yesterday, a week before the 2024 draft, and we were surprised to learn that Pierre-Luc Dubois was sent to the Washington Capitals in exchange for veteran goaltender Darcy Kuemper.
The day after this trade, and while it continues to stir discussions (especially about who won the trade), BPM Sports just proposed the following trade idea.
See their publication from this morning.
Would you have accepted this offer?
At the time of writing, here are the results:
38.1% of fans would have accepted this trade, while 61.9% of Canadiens fans would have refused to trade Gallagher for Dubois.
Interesting.
Brendan Gallagher, 32 years old, scored 31 points in 77 games last season with the Canadiens and is signed at $6.5 million per year until 2027.
Pierre-Luc Dubois, 25 years old, scored 40 points in 82 games last season with the Kings and is signed at $8.5 million per year until 2031.
And you, would you have made this trade?
It should be noted that Gallagher finished the season extremely well for Martin St-Louis's squad and is an excellent mentor for the young players.
Additionally, his contract is much less burdensome than Pierre-Luc Dubois's.
