An interesting offer for the Montreal Canadiens, involving forward Jake Evans, has just been revealed by Jean-Charles Lajoie of TVA Sports. More and more, Evans is showing that he is a useful, even very important, asset for the success of Martin St-Louis's team.

His season has far exceeded expectations and has certainly contributed to increasing his market value, both in the trade market and in free agency.

Signing him today would cost more than it would have last summer, and trading him today would also yield significantly more than it would have last summer.

In short, it's quite the dilemma for Montreal Canadiens executives Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton.

An offer for Jake Evans from Jean-Charles Lajoie

As reported by Marco Normandin, "according to host Jean-Charles Lajoie of TVA Sports, when you have a player of this caliber in your organization, you must do everything to keep him."

He would therefore offer him a 5-year contract extension worth $15 to $17.5 million (an average of about $3 to $3.5 million per season).

Here is his exact statement:

"Jake Evans: some say players like this are a dime a dozen.

I'm in the camp that believes when you have one, you keep him!

5 years, ideally $15M, max $17.5M total!

No risk; we know what he'll bring us.

An organizational child, he wants to win here."

Jean-Charles Lajoie

If Evans were to accept such an offer, do you also think it would be a good contract for Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens?

It will be truly fascinating to see how this situation unfolds.

Evans currently has 23 points in 36 games, including 10 goals, an impressive 50-point pace!
