Arthur Kaliyev Has Finally Been Claimed Off Waivers
As we reported to you in the past few hours, the young forward Arthur Kaliyev was available for free on NHL waivers.
He is a promising young offensive forward, only 23 years old, a 33rd overall pick, and he scored 200 points over his last two seasons in the OHL, including 95 goals.
This is very impressive production.
Kaliyev also recorded 71 points in 188 career games in the NHL, including 35 goals, and he truly seems to have the talent to become a highly productive forward.
However, things were no longer working out for him with the Los Angeles Kings, and he now has a new team!
See the official confirmation:
«The New York Rangers claim Arthur Kaliyev off waivers from Los Angeles.»
- Chris Johnston, TSN
Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens never had the opportunity to claim Kaliyev.
I would have really been curious to see if we would have claimed him if he had made it to the Canadiens' position.
Let's remember that the Rangers are currently in 26th place in the NHL standings, while the Canadiens are in 22nd.
The opportunity to claim Kaliyev therefore never materialized for Montreal.
The teams that passed on Kaliyev are: Chicago, San Jose, Nashville, Buffalo, New York (Islanders), and the Seattle Kraken.
