We just had a major trade. It's the trade of the year in the National Hockey League, and it's a three-team trade involving the Colorado Avalanche, the Carolina Hurricanes, and the Chicago Blackhawks.

Major trade alert involving Mikko Rantanen

This is a developing story.

It's still developing, but it seems that a three-team deal involving Taylor Hall is in progress.

I believe Carolina is involved.

Stay tuned!

See the developments in real-time:

- Mikko Rantanen is heading to the Carolina Hurricanes. (confirmed)

- Martin Necas is heading to the Colorado Avalanche. (confirmed)

- Taylor Hall is also going to the Hurricanes (from Chicago, also confirmed).

It is indeed a three-team trade.

Sources indicate that the Avalanche is trading Mikko Rantanen to the Carolina Hurricanes.

This seems to be a complex three-team deal, and I believe Taylor Hall is also involved in the exchange between Chicago and Carolina.

Mikko Rantanen, 28 years old, 6 feet 4 inches and 215 pounds, is one of the top forwards in the entire National Hockey League.

The 10th overall pick in 2015 (1st round) has an amazing 61 points in 45 games this season, including 25 goals, after accumulating 104 points and 105 points over the last two seasons.

He currently earns $9.25 million per year and will be an unrestricted free agent next July, unless he signs an extension.

In terms of points per 82 games over the last 5 seasons for Rantanen, we're talking 113 points, 107 points, 105 points, 101 points, and 104 points.

Details to follow.
