Speaking of Laine, let's recall that the reputable Stu Cowan recently confirmed a major circulating rumor.
Here is the more concrete proposal from Trask, who is a well-known figure in the hockey world and knows what he's talking about.
To Montreal:
Patrik Laine with $2.3 million of his salary retained by CBJ
To Columbus:
- Christian Dvorak or Jake Evans
- Jayden Struble or Jordan Harris
- Farrell, Davidson, or Kidney
- The later of Montreal's two 2025 second-round picks»
- Bob Trask
This may seem like a high price and a lot of pieces, but let's say Kent Hughes trades Christian Dvorak, Jordan Harris, Riley Kidney, and a late second-round pick for Patrik Laine; it's really not that big of a risk.
Plus, it would allow receiving Patrik Laine at $6.5 million per year.
