The Canadiens are currently in the playoff picture, and with all hopes allowed, the question arises about the organization's strategy leading up to the trade deadline.
Regardless of what happens with the team over the next few weeks, it's expected that Kent Hughes will be very busy until March 7, and despite the team's recent success, some Canadiens players could still be on the move.
As reported by the site DansLesCoulisses, attention should be paid to what happens with defenseman David Savard and forward Christian Dvorak.
At least, that's what insider David Pagnotta has stated, and he wouldn't be surprised if the hometown defenseman is traded by Kent Hughes.
Since the arrival of Alexandre Carrier, his presence in the lineup has become slightly less essential, and it would be surprising if Kent Hughes offered him a contract extension.
Moreover, Savard has missed a few games recently, and his market value may have slightly decreased as a result.
As for Dvorak, Pagnotta suggested that the American forward could also leave Montreal, but it's highly likely that Kent Hughes will need to retain part of his salary to make him more attractive to other NHL general managers.
Like Savard, Christian Dvorak will be an unrestricted free agent on July 1, and it would be very surprising if the Canadiens organization retained his services for the next season.
Stay tuned as the March 7th trade deadline approaches.
