We've had a lot of action in the National Hockey League in the past few minutes including trades and waiver moves.

Let's break it down step by step.

First, there was movement on the NHL waiver wire, including a surprise from Toronto.

Five players placed on NHL waivers, including Ryan Reaves

You read that right.

"The Leafs free up at least $1.15 million in cap space before the trade deadline by placing Ryan Reaves on waivers.

That's what they save if he clears and they assign him to the AHL.

Should another team put in a claim, which isn't expected, Toronto sheds his entire $1.35M."

Reaves isn't alone:

"Tyler Pitlick (BOS), Riley Stillman (CAR), Evan Cormier (FLA), Ryan Reaves (TOR), and Cameron Hevig (UTA) have all been placed on NHL waivers."

We also have a trade.

Renaud Lavoie shares details of the trade sending Reilly Smith to the Vegas Golden Knights

It's a homecoming for Smith.

Here's how it breaks down:

To the Golden Knights:

Reilly Smith

To the Rangers:

Brendan Brisson + 2025 third-round pick (SJS)

And finally, here's a little bonus.

A goaltender trade has just been announced between the Florida Panthers and Winnipeg Jets

Check out the details:

Chris Driedger for Kaapo Kahkonen.

Things are heating up ahead of tomorrow, but we've already seen plenty of action in the trade market today, along with some waiver surprises.
