For some time now, Arber Xhekaj's name has been linked to several trade rumors. Well, here is a concrete offer involving the robust defenseman.

He had a more difficult second season, notably due to numerous injuries, but some are wondering if The Sheriff still has a place in the Canadiens' defensive brigade.

A trade proposal between the Montreal Canadiens and the Nashville Predators involving Arber Xhekaj and Yaroslav Askarov

And now, another trade rumor involving Xhekaj has been reported by the site Rumeursdetransaction.com. On BPM Sports, hosts Stéphane Gonzalez and Georges Laraque discussed a trade proposal between Montreal and Nashville as follows:

To Montreal: Yaroslav Askarov

To Nashville: Arber Xhekaj and the Winnipeg Jets' first-round pick (2024)

This is an interesting proposal because the Predators have clearly indicated that they intend to sign a contract extension with the team's number one goalie, Juuse Saros, who has one year left on his contract for the 2024-2025 season.

That said, it could mean that the young Askarov is not the long-term trusted man for the organization, despite impressive numbers in the American league with the Milwaukee Admirals, the Predators' farm team.

Now that we know Kent Hughes will have the 26th pick in the first round, a pick obtained in return for Sean Monahan, this proposal is very enticing for the Canadiens' organization, as it would give them the opportunity to have a top-notch future goaltender.
