The renowned David Pagnotta just reported that Kent Hughes refused a trade involving several elements, including a certain Arber Xhekaj.

Clearly, the Sheriff continues to generate a lot of attention and interest in the trade market.

With a few weeks left until the 2024 NHL draft, discussions are starting to heat up, and some other GMs are once again trying to pry Xhekaj away from the Montreal Canadiens.

Kent Hughes recently refused trade offers involving Arber Xhekaj

See what David Pagnotta just revealed.

"As recently as this week, teams are still inquiring with the Montreal Canadiens about defenseman Arber Xhekaj, but the Habs' general manager, Kent Hughes, continues to turn them down. Hughes is not interested in trading the solid defenseman, but he is willing to trade some of his other young defensemen." - David Pagnotta

Hughes continues to refuse trades involving Xhekaj, and that's a very good thing.

Xhekaj, standing 6 feet 4 inches and weighing 238 pounds, is likely to be an extremely useful player, especially in the playoffs, and other teams are well aware of this.

It is understood that, yes, the Canadiens' GM is taking calls for his young defensemen and is likely to trade one, but no, it is unlikely to be Arber Xhekaj.

He, Kaiden Guhle, Lane Hutson, and David Reinbacher are definitely the ones with the best chances of staying.

Jordan Harris, Johnathan Kovacevic, Justin Barron, and Jayden Struble could, however, change addresses this summer. As for Logan Mailloux, it's really hard to know what the Canadiens think of him.
