As reported by Habsolumentfan, the Philadelphia Flyers' GM held the 12th overall pick but, according to TSN, Brière tried to complete a trade to acquire the 4th pick held by the Columbus Blue Jackets.
It appears that the Flyers were willing to give the Jackets their 12th overall pick, a current roster player, and their 2025 first-round pick.
This information was confirmed by Mark Scheig, a journalist covering the Blue Jackets, via his X account.
Fortunately for Canadiens fans, this trade did not materialize, as one might wonder if Daniel Brière intended to draft a certain Ivan Demidov with that 4th pick to reunite him with his compatriot Matvei Michkov, who will join Philadelphia this fall.
Ultimately, the Flyers did complete a trade with the Minnesota Wild, as the two teams swapped the 12th and 13th picks.
The Wild selected defenseman Zeev Buium 12th overall, while Daniel Brière chose forward Jett Luchanko with the 13th pick.
